Uma rede de TV realiza uma seleção que indicará 22 garotos que farão parte de uma escolinha de futebol treinada por Zico. Entre os escolhidos estão Tuca (Felipe Barreto Adão), garoto carioca do Morro do Borel; Kazuo (Rodolpho Fukamati), nissei fanático por futebol que vive em São Paulo; Dida (Dado Oliveira), auxiliar de feirante em Caruaru; e ainda Lula (Carla Gomes), uma garota gaúcha que se disfarça de menino para poder entrar no concurso. Enquanto isso Fred, o filho mimado de um magnata (Jonas Bloch), não é selecionado. Para atender aos apelos do filho o pai resolve contratar uma cientista para criar um clone do Zico, que poderá dar aulas a Fred em tempo integral.
